DescriptionI'm Jill, from New Albany. I am the marketing communications director at Bricker & Eckler. After I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in June of 2009, I really struggled with what to do about it. I wanted—and needed--information about how to live with the disease. That's when I discovered the Central Ohio Diabetes Association (CODA) and the wealth of information it has to offer people like me. I felt like I'd stumbled upon the best-kept secret in central Ohio. Now I'm attending classes in the medical education series and the nutrition series at CODA. The classes are jam-packed with practical advice for living with diabetes. I've also joined a support group, and that has helped me deal with the embarrassment and devastation I felt after the initial prognosis.
This has clearly been a life-altering experience for me, but with the help of CODA, I now feel empowered and equipped with the knowledge I need to live a better life. CODA is such a great organization, but not enough people know about it. I want everyone to know that this service is available.
