This year, United Way of Central Ohio is celebrating 20 years of making an impact in the community!
WHAT IS COMMUNITY CARE DAY?
Community Care Day is the largest one-day volunteer outreach in central Ohio. The event is an opportunity for teams of employees from companies throughout central Ohio to volunteer at nonprofit agencies, schools, churches and neighborhoods. In 2010, more than 3200 volunteers participated at more than 180 project sites in Franklin, Delaware, Pickaway and Knox counties. To view 2010 photos, click here.
The Impact of COMMUNITY CARE DAY
As a result of Community Care Day, nonprofit organizations save thousands of dollars in manpower and project costs. Renovations and projects that would take weeks and months to complete are finished in just one day. These organizations are then able to channel their dollars and volunteer support directly into what matters the most - programs and services for the community.
COMMUNITY CARE DAY Project Sites
Nonprofit agencies, schools, churches and neighborhoods in central Ohio are all eligible to participate and register projects for Community Care Day.
Project work for volunteers can vary from painting, building and repairs to filing or helping clients at a food pantry. Organizations are encouraged to submit as many projects as desired.
After organizations register, participating companies will have the opportunity to view projects and select the site where they will send their volunteers. This matching system facilitates the connection from company to project.
COMMUNITY CARE DAY Volunteers
Volunteers consist of teams of employees from companies of all sizes throughout central Ohio who join forces to make a difference in their respective communities.
Volunteers get an opportunity to see the needs firsthand and to work alongside their peers on projects such as landscaping, painting, cleaning, construction and repair work that make a significant impact on people’s lives.
