Project Mentor is intended to help Columbus City Schools students graduate and empower them to succeed by offering strong mentoring relationships. Project Mentor empowers individual students by focusing on the assets required to improve academic performance and high school graduation.
While it is called a "project", it is actually a plan for action that creates an opportunity to mobilize the caring of the community in a unique and new way.
Volunteer Opportunity
The mentor and student will meet at the student's school for 1 hour once per week. Mentors spend time with their student on activities designed to help build the relationship between the mentor and student, and support character development and literacy for the student. This is an opportunity to be an adult role model in the life of a young person. This is a structured environment with coordinator-provided activities available throughout the year. However, within the guidelines of the program, mentors and students may choose more individually focused activities as well.
