Half a million children in Ohio don’t know where their next meal is coming from. This is why Children's Hunger Alliance seeks to "feed hungry minds and bodies" through the operation and expansion of USDA child nutrition programs in schools, in-home childcare, afterschool, and summer meal programs; as well as providing resources to childcare providers, children, and parents. By working strategically with schools, youth-serving nonprofits, faith-based groups, legislators, advocates, parents, and caregivers to address these issues, Children’s Hunger Alliance works to ensure that every child can receive the proper nutrition and physical activity needed to grow and thrive.
Volunteer Opportunity
Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities is an afterschool program focused on empowering children to learn about healthy eating and physical activity. AmeriCorps members and volunteers work together to teach a series of noncompetitive, hands-on lessons including basic nutrition, making healthy snacks, and playing games to boost cardiovascular endurance and promote lifelong fitness.
