Communities In Schools is the nation's leading community-based drop-out prevention organization helping students stay in school and graduate. Communities In Schools brings resources, services, business partners, parents and volunteers into schools. Children's needs are met so they can concentrate on learning, teachers can teach, and a safe learning environment is created.

Volunteer Opportunity

Participate in the ELITE (Exceptional Leaders Inspired Through Excellence) program which addresses the need for a leadership program that decreases risk factors for young African-American males. Communities In Schools facilitates ELITE programs for approximately 150 students in 11 identified schools, and ELITE is a United Way funded program. The ELITE program participants are led through the values, beliefs, strategies and techniques needed to foster a school climate and culture that increases their life skills, developmental assets and develops their leadership potential by volunteers. The ELITE program need volunteers to guide and lead these students to help build their leadership skills.
