Make an Impact: Volunteer for Education!
Recently United Way has placed an increased emphasis on volunteerism and advocacy as ways to effect community-wide social change in education. To reach our goals, we must engage and mobilize an unprecedented number of individuals as volunteer readers, tutors, mentors, coaches and advocates. Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of our communities by having a direct impact on the academic success of our children. Volunteers can help children:
- Enter school ready to succeed
- Read proficiently by 4th grade
- Make a successful transition into and out of middle school
- Graduate from high school on time
- Be ready for success in college, work and life
This month, United Way of Central Ohio launched Volunteer United, a web-based tool that connects individuals with volunteer opportunities directly aligned and integrated with our community impact strategies. To find a volunteer opportunity that is right for you, visit www.liveunitedcentralohio/volunteer.
