Welcome to the Inaugural Edition of the Champion of Children Education Journal!
News, views, research, events: it's all here in central Ohio's newest education resource -- the Champion of Children Education Journal!
We call this the Champion of Children Education Journal because everyone who receives it cares deeply about education in central Ohio and is truly a champion for all of our children. With this new journal, we will keep you up-to-date on the many exciting education efforts underway from United Way of Central Ohio and our many partners throughout the community. And since we know that many of you have a passion for being actively involved in this work, we will also feature opportunities for advocating and volunteering.
It is a hopeful time in central Ohio. Real progress is happening. Although our challenges are significant, there are so many reasons to be positive. More preschool children are being assessed so they can receive the help they need to succeed in kindergarten. High school graduation rates in central Ohio are rising. An important new education initiative, Learn4Life, that will bring partners together from across our community and create broad positive change has just been launched. The momentum is building and we want you to know about all of the efforts that are making that happen.
We want this journal to grow based on your thoughts and opinions. If you know of an education effort we should include, please let us know. You understand that helping each child in our community succeed in school helps our entire community succeed.
Please tell us what you think and help us shape the journal into a one-stop source for what’s happening in education in our community. Send your story ideas for future editions to Staci Collier at staci.collier@uwcentralohio.org. We look forward to listening to you, learning from your insights, and working together to improve education for every child in our great community.
Sincerely,
Janet E. Jackson
