United Way of Central Ohio (UWCO) is an independent organization founded and governed by local volunteers to improve lives and strengthen our community. UWCO is a member of United Way of America and annually completes certification of strict membership requirements.

United Way of Central Ohio has a stringent system of checks and balances in place to ensure that it is operated in a sound fiscal manner.


The organization's operating budget as well as its community funding decisions are reviewed and approved by several volunteer committees, including the Board of Trustees.

The independent CPA firm of S,S &G conducts an annual audit of United Way of Central Ohio. The latest audit was completed in June 2007 and S,S & G reported that our financial statements fairly and accurately present the financial position of United Way of Central Ohio.


The annual audit is reviewed by the volunteer Audit and Finance Committees and is also approved by the Board of Trustees.


The organization also follows the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (AICPA) Audit and Accounting for Not-For-Profit-Organizations to ensure financial statements conform with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

United Way of Central Ohio openly provides donors with information about how their donations are used. We welcome questions regarding these topics. Information about our distribution of funds is available here.

Designations will be assessed uncollectible and administrative fees in accordance with United Way of America Membership Standards. United Way of Central Ohio's administrative fee is currently 10%.
