A Strategic Framework
United Way's vision is a community in which everyone has the aspirations, opportunities and resources to realize their potential and achieve economic well-being. To achieve this vision and after an intensive, community-wide strategic planning process in 2007, United Way of Central Ohio created a new strategic framework.
The new strategic framework responds to our Board of Directors' and donors' interest in producing even stronger community results that are sustainable over time, guided by specific performance measures and monitored for outcomes and success.
United Way's work is now organized by four areas of impact :
- Education
- Income
- Health
- Home
The framework also provides further structure by creating three resource committees including:
- Accountability
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Public Policy
Finally, the new structure allows for an expansion of the funding process first used in 1999. Funding will be open to local health and human service programs whose efforts will help us achieve the community results we've identified. Funding will be:
- Competitive
- Transparent to the public
- True to our commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Effective in January 2010
United Way of Central Ohio expects there will be a shift in its program investments based on this expansion. Some programs may receive more dollars, others less, depending on how these programs align with our mission.
This strategic framework is our roadmap. It shapes our work, which is organized around specific results that the community has determined are important.
