Election Day 2010

Columbus Metropolitan Library has a local levy, Issue 4, on the ballot on November 2. Issue 4 is a $2.8 million property-tax levy. The current levy expires in 2010, and without the new levy the library will lose over half its budget.

Since 2008, the Columbus Metropolitan Library has made more than $11 million in cuts due to the state's funding decrease. The levy adds $5.24 per month on a $100,000 property.

Southwest Public Libraries also has a levy, Issue 8, on the ballot on November 2. Issue 8 is a 10-year, 1 million dollar local property-tax levy that would establish the library's firs t local funding. Southwest's state funding has dropped from $4 million to $3.5 million since 2001. The levy adds $2.55 per month ona $100,000 property.

Voters will only vote on and pay for the library tax for the district where they live.
