Kindergarten to start two weeks early for 1,200 Columbus students
"The alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors can't be taught in two weeks." reports the Dispatch in an article highlighting early childhood education and Columbus Kids, a new United Way initiative.
"But the Columbus school district thinks a short time will make a big difference for incoming kindergartners who have little or no preschool experience."
"On Aug. 9, the Columbus City Schools will open 46 elementary buildings two weeks early for those students to participate in a new program called Jumpstart to Kindergarten." the Dispatch reports.
