Develop Your Team
Build Our Community

The Loaned Executive Program of United Way of Central Ohio provides an opportunity for companies to offer employees a unique learning experience with numerous benefits. Loaned Executives serve as liaisons between United Way and our local corporate partners and individual donors during our peak campaign season.

A United Way relationship manager will work with your Loaned Executive to develop fundraising goals, execute campaign strategies and support the corporate philanthropy efforts in companies throughout Columbus. Your employee will gain transferable skills through intensive training, and numerous leadership and networking opportunities.

Your company will gain high visibility within the community, and your executive-track employee receives a significant career enrichment opportunity. Make an investment in your employees and your community through the Loaned Executive Program, and everyone will benefit.

How the Loaned Executive Program Works

For the first two weeks of a 15-week period, the Loaned Executive will receive training that includes a structured professional development curriculum covering communication and presentation skills, project management skills, and interpersonal and management competencies.

Participants will engage in the community by participating in group volunteer projects, agency tours, Campaign Cabinet meetings and by speaking in front of various audiences about the work of United Way.

The program will emphasize networking and mentorship through leadership luncheons with key stakeholders in the community to educate and inspire your Loaned Executive. From building relationships with key corporate contacts and making presentations to different audiences, participants will expand their personal and professional networks.

Options for Company Engagement

Loaned Executives serve from August 19 to November 22. In addition to the traditional loaned staff option, we also offer an option for sponsorship support. If loaning employees, companies agree to cover their employees’ salaries, mileage costs and other expenses during the program.

Loaned Executives (40 hours per week for 15 weeks); Full-time Loaned Executives manage approximately 40 corporate accounts and work at United Way’s downtown offices. By investing in their employees as Loaned Executives, companies release  them from day-to-day responsibilities for the duration of the program.

Sponsorship Support - Financial support for the program through sponsorships is vital in enabling United Way to offer the Loaned Executive Program. Corporate sponsors are recognized in a variety of ways including coverage in the United Way newsletter, website and, as appropriate, on program materials.

  • Grand Champion - $15,000 Your company will sponsor a program participant who will be recruited through our general program application process to represent your company, the training and development components, and the program’s events (including the graduation luncheon).
  • Champion - $10,000 Your company will sponsor the program’s training and development components in addition to sponsoring a program participant who will be recruited through our general program application process to represent your company.
