OUR STORY:
We’re proud of our staff and the quality and integrity of our work.
Dr. Nancy Nestor-Baker of The Ohio State University’s P-12 Project recently joined South-Western City Schools Superintendent and United Way of Central Ohio volunteer Bill Wise, along with Haley Ford, a student from Westerville North High School, to participate in a creative and informative televised panel discussion about how to reduce the number of high school dropouts. The program, sponsored by WOSU, is the second in a series of reports about the dropout issue in central Ohio. The conversation focused on how schools, families, youth, businesses and community organizations can work together to help youth succeed.
As Dr. Nestor-Baker points out in the forum, building those connections and building students’ trust in those they interact with within schools and communities "…is key to keeping students from dropping out…it keeps them moving, keeps them buoyant; it lets them know that there will be someone there beside them to help them."
The forum, American Graduate, Part 2, is scheduled to be broadcast on the series Columbus Collaborative on WOSU Plus, TV3, on the following dates: Friday, December 23 at 9:00 p.m., and Friday, December 30 at 9:00 p.m.
